Reasons for blogging

March 9th, 2007

  1. To know what I’m thinking. I struggle with formulating my thoughts coherently in my head, or through speech, things work a lot better for me when I start to write it out.
  2. To engage. There’s nothing like connection. One of the things that excites me so much about the Internet, and has since I first came into contact with it, is community. Finding people who I connect with, and maybe even people I can encourage through what I write. I like the social web. I like connecting with another human being.
  3. To learn to write, and communicate. When I blogged frequently, I was able to communicate better. Since I stopped I noticed an decrease in my ability to write a decent sentence!
  4. Cash. Well, who knows, maybe one day I will make some money from AdSense or something!

What do you blog?

I used to blog to express what I couldn’t say…Then when Matt died I used it as a cathartic way of getting into my feelings, now I just use it as way of commuicating with the outside world, whilst working from home.

I blog… not very much at the moment! I think you’ve given me whatever anti-blogging virus you had.

But I used to blog about my opinions about people and the state the world is in, but I disguised it as nonsensical ramblings and jokes.

I also used to draw more, I need to start doing that too!

Mostly for the first three of your reasons… but mainly to know what I’m thinking, to find a way to make my thoughts more coherent.

    Oh and, welcome back!

    Hi,

I am brand new at blogging, know nothing about it but this site caught my eye when I was doing a search of my family name, Timbrell. And since I have a spiritual bent, I had to come check it out. So you are my first blog. Dunno, I may be doing something wrong but ignorance is bliss.

I went through my own little blogging crisis. Stopped blogging for like a month, and then started again because I actually really missed it. Blogging isn’t what it used to be; it used to be far more like a community.

    Oh well, things change.
